Project Highlight

TW Industrial engaged us as lead consultant and Coordinating Registered Professional for the design and construction of their main fabrication shop in Prince George.

The project centered around incorporating two 40-ton overhead bridge cranes that had been salvaged from a decommissioned mine site, requiring the structural design to accommodate significant lifting loads within the new facility.

The building utilized a custom structural steel superstructure supported on conventional concrete foundations. The design incorporated crane runways capable of supporting the salvaged crane system along with embedded floor slab cart rails that allow material to move directly through the fabrication, sandblasting, and paint shop areas.

The project site introduced additional planning considerations. Located along the Nechako River and above a domestic water reservoir, the development required rezoning and a development permit, with environmental sensitivity playing an important role in the overall project planning. Through careful coordination of structural systems, operational requirements, and site constraints, the project delivered a highly functional industrial facility tailored to the client’s fabrication operations.
