Project Highlight

The Cheslatta Carrier Nation Community Centre and Administration Building provided an opportunity to develop a structural system that supports both the architectural vision and long-term performance of the facility. Access provided structural engineering services, delivering a cohesive hybrid system that balances efficiency, constructability, and durability.

The design integrates a pre engineered steel building system with conventional light wood framing and custom structural steel. Challenging soil conditions required robust foundation and load transfer strategies to support the building. Distinctive architectural features, including angular entry elements, off axis log columns, and long span cantilevered canopies, were achieved through careful coordination and refined connection design.

Well resolved detailing unifies the various structural systems into a single resilient framework. Through close collaboration with the design and construction teams, we delivered an efficient and durable structure that supports the building’s role as a lasting community and governance hub.
