Bruce Johnston, P. Eng., CP, RSE, Partner

Bruce started with Access in 2013 and purchased controlling shares of the company shortly thereafter. He is a seasoned Professional Engineer, Certified Professional, and Red Seal Carpenter. Bruce leads a wide range of projects with a focus on clear design processes and strong leadership. His practical background and commitment to quality make him a trusted guide in delivering efficient and successful project outcomes.

Tanner Braaten, P. Eng., Partner

Tanner joined Access in 2019 and became a partner in 2020. He is a dedicated structural engineer with a strong passion for wood design. Tanner specializes in the structural analysis and design of mid-rise multi-residential and commercial projects, combining technical precision with innovative solutions. He also serves as the managing partner of our Prince George office, leading the team with a focus on quality and client service.

Lyndon Martell, P. Eng., Partner

Lyndon became a full-time member of Access in 2017 after completing two summer terms with the firm while earning his Civil Engineering degree at UBC. He became a partner in 2021 and is a key leader in complex industrial projects, drawing on extensive experience from mine sites and processing facilities. Specializing in structural steel, building, and connection design, Lyndon applies advanced expertise to deliver practical, high-performing solutions. He also serves as the managing partner of our Edmonton office, driving growth and client service in the region.

Fergus Foley, P.Eng., Struct. Eng., Founder

Fergus is the founder of Access Engineering and a pillar of structural expertise in Northern BC. Since 1983, he has designed a wide range of structures and serves as our dedicated Independent Reviewer, providing invaluable mentorship and deep knowledge of regional design and building regulations.

Braedon Cooreman, P. Eng.

Braedon joined the Access team in 2020 and became a partner in 2025. A graduate of UNBC’s Master of Engineering in Integrated Wood Design, he specializes in heavy timber and innovative engineered wood products. Known for championing modern timber construction, Braedon leads projects with a focus on advancing sustainable building design and promoting the use of engineered wood solutions in structural practice.

Ala’a Suheimat, P. Eng.

Ala’a started her journey with Access in 2023, bringing with her over a decade of expertise in reinforced concrete design and finite element analysis. A Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Jordan, she has contributed to the design of mid- to large-scale building developments with precision and care. Known around the office as our “queen of concrete,” Ala’a’s depth of knowledge and attention to detail make her a valued leader in advancing concrete design solutions.

Kris Talkington, Structural BIM Technologist

Kris brought his talents to Access in 2019 and is widely regarded as our BIM wizard and building design expert. A graduate of CNC’s Building Design Technology program, he brings decades of experience in both architectural and structural design. Kris delivers comprehensive design packages with creativity and technical accuracy, playing a key role in bringing projects from concept to completion.

Helmut Schoenfeld, Structural BIM Technologist

Helmut has been part of Access since 2019 and is recognized as our structural steel expert, bringing more than 20 years of field experience. A graduate of TRU’s Architecture and Engineering Technology program, he combines practical, hands-on knowledge with precise technical drafting to produce design drawings that get it right the first time.

Nolan Powers, Structural BIM Technologist

Nolan joined Access in 2025 after graduating from NAIT with a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma. He pairs hands-on construction experience with strong communication skills, bringing a well-rounded perspective to design and coordination. Nolan also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Alberta, a background that strengthens his ability to translate technical detail into clear, effective collaboration across the team.

Kristy Hiscock, Structural BIM Technologist

Kristy started her journey with Access in 2025 after graduating with her Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from the College of New Caledonia. She brings a strong foundation in surveying, subdivision design, and municipal planning. Kristy is eager to expand her knowledge of structural design, and her quick learning ability is already making her a valuable contributor to efficient and high-quality project delivery.

Jordan Nichols, Structural Design Coordinator

Jordan joined Access in 2024, bringing a unique perspective on constructability as a Red Seal Carpenter. With extensive hands-on experience in the field, she bridges the gap between design and construction, ensuring practical solutions that work on site. Jordan’s intuitive understanding of how structures come together makes her a valuable contributor in the design process—she just gets it.

Allisha Clemetson, Human Resources Manager, Partner

Allisha has been with Access since 2016 and is the driving force behind HR and finance. She recently completed her Associate Certificate in Human Resource Management at BCIT, building on nearly a decade of progressive experience with the company. As a partner and HR leader, Allisha oversees people systems, compliance, and financial management, while collaborating closely with operations to strengthen processes and shape the corporate culture that drives Access forward.

Mandy Tansem, Office Manager

Mandy joined Access in 2025, bringing extensive experience in office administration along with a strong understanding of business operations, accounting, and office management. She ensures the day-to-day runs smoothly with professionalism and care, while her warm and approachable demeanor creates a welcoming environment for both clients and colleagues.

Brock Quist, E.I.T

Brock completed two summer terms with Access in 2022 and 2023 while earning his Civil Engineering degree at UNBC, then joined the team full-time after graduating in 2024. He has a strong passion for steel design and is focused on building his expertise across all areas of structural engineering, contributing a thoughtful and detail-oriented approach to each project.

Jeremy Burkinshaw, E.I.T.

Jeremy first joined Access in the summer of 2024 as a student while completing his Civil Engineering degree at UNBC, then returned full-time as an Engineer-in-Training after graduating in 2025. With a background in carpentry and extensive time on construction sites, he brings practical insight and confidence to building design, strengthening the connection between engineering and construction.

Alex Barter, E.I.T.

Alex joined Access in 2025 after graduating from the University of Alberta with a degree in Civil Engineering. He has a strong passion for structural engineering and is eager to contribute to meaningful projects while expanding his expertise. Alex values teamwork, creative problem-solving, and innovation, and is excited to grow his career as part of the Access team.

Laura Walters, E.I.T.

Laura became part of Access in 2025 after completing both her Bachelor of Civil Engineering & Management and Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering at McMaster University. A recipient of the Catherine Lalonde Memorial Scholarship for excellence in wood design research and a past leader of McMaster’s Seismic Design Team, she brings a strong background in timber and steel design. Laura is excited to apply her passion for sustainable building solutions while continuing to advance her expertise in structural design.
